Manchester City are plotting to open new contract talks with Raheem Sterling in order to fend off interest from Arsenal, according to reports.
The Gunners were believed to have held talks with the 22-year-old during the latter stages of the just concluded transfer window as City prepared to sign Alexis Sanchez who has refused to renew his contract at the Emirates.
However, City boss Pep Guardiola has come out to reveal that he will not allow Sterling leave the club despite maintaining interest in Sanchez who is set to leave the club as a free agent next summer.
Reports in the Daily Star have it that Manchester City are keen on keeping Sterling and will offer him a lucrative deal to fend off interest from the Gunners.
It is understood that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wants to add a winger to his side in the coming windows, after failing in a transfer deadline day bid for Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.
Paris Saint Germain are believed to be considering a mega deal to hijack Alexis Sanchez’s move to Manchester City next summer which could leave City’s move for the Chilean, so tying Raheem Sterling to a new deal will be their only resort.
