Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has cast doubts over the future of Victor Lindelof due to his slow start to life in the Premier League, reports say.
The Portuguese boss signed the 23-year-old from Benfica last summer , having failed to seal his signature during the last January transfer window. However, the defender has not been able to hit the ground running and has mostly been deployed in cup games.
Reports in Manchester Evening News have it that Jose Mourinho is worried about the performances of Victor Lindelof since he arrived at Old Trafford last summer, which has prompted the United boss to deploy the duo of Phil Jones and Eric Bailly at centre-back.
However, the report also claims that Mourinho has been assured by his contacts in his home country, Portugal about the quality of Lindelof and would give the Swede sometime to gell at United’s style of play.
The defender was at the centre of criticism due to his lack-lustre display that saw Huddersfield defeat Manchester United last weekend, putting some dent on their title chase as they contend with Manchester City for the Premier League title this season.
Manchester United have also been plagued with injuries to certain key players in the first team, causing too many reshuffling from Mourinho in games this season
