Chelsea star N’Golo Kante remains a major doubt for Sunday’s huge Premier League match against rivals Manchester United. The France international midfielder is back in training after recovering from a hamstring problem sustained on international duty and has not played for the side since their 1-0 defeat to rivals Manchester City back in September.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte had initially hinted that the midfielder could return to action versus AS Roma in Tuesday night’s UEFA Champions League match, but he was excluded from the matchday squad for the visit to Rome.
Kante did, however, travel with the team to the Italian capital City, and The Independent claim that the midfielder provided a little update on his opportunity of playing Manchester United. After the match, he was questioned if he would be prepared to play on Sunday, to which he replied that his playing chances are only 50-50.
The Ex Leicester midfielder is expected to be examined over the coming days, with Antonio Conte set to make a late decision on whether the PFA player of the year will play. When asked why the midfield maestro Kante was dropped for the Roma clash before kick-off in Rome, Conte said the Frenchman obviously is the type of player who is very hard to leave out of the squad.
The Blues succumbed to a 3-0 loss against AS Roma in the absence of the midfielder, and have kept one clean sheet since he sustained the hamstring injury.
