Mourinho: No, He Won’t Play Against Newcastle United

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has indicated that Phil Jones won’t be part of the squad that will play against Newcastle United on Saturday at Old Trafford.

The England international was forced to withdraw from Gareth Southgate’s party during the international break after sustaining an injury on his thigh during their 0-0 draw with Germany last Friday.

Jose has made it known that the defender was carrying a thigh problem when he was selected by Southgate during the international break, and the Portuguese tactician believes the player shouldn’t have played against Germany last Friday at the Wembley Stadium.

It is understood that Mourinho is not also happy that some other English players from other English sides opted to pull out of the international break, and he felt they only feign injuries.

Speaking recently about the situation, the former Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid manager said he is looking forward to the next premier league fixtures, to see if the English players who opted out of the international break won’t play for their respective clubs.

But he added that his own Jones won’t be on duty this weekend.

“The only one that is not playing is Phil Jones.” the Portuguese said.

Gareth Southgate was forced to face both Germany and Brazil with a lean squad, and could only draw both games at Wembley.
