The form of Leicester midfielder Riyad Mahrez has improved remarkably since Claude Puel took over at the former Premier League champions.

The Algerian international has so far scored 7 goals and recorded another 7 assists this season to see interests in him increase this month.

Chelsea are the latest club to be credited with an interest in the 26-year old and will now join the host of clubs said to be interested in signing the playmaker.

Mahrez has since last summer made known his plans to move to a top 6 side known to Leicester City but offers were not forthcoming then – as only AS Roma were said to have made a Bid which also reportedly fell short of the club’s valuation and in any case the player had no desire of moving to Rome.

His recent form, however, has seen clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool and now Chelsea made their interests known.

Liverpool views the Algerian as a suitable replacement for Brazilian, Coutinho, who is being quite publicly courted by Spanish giants Barcelona – who have coincidentally been among the admirers of the Leicester midfielder in the past.

Chelsea are said to be ready to make a move for the skilful attacking midfield player this month as they look to follow up their good start to the transfer window which has seen them sign Ross Barkley from Everton already.
