Premier League Champions, Chelsea’s search for a new left back to serve as back-up to the current first choice Marcos Alonso might just be coming to an end if latest reports are to be believed.
There had earlier been reports of an enquiry made by the West London club about Roma’s Brazilian left back Emerson Palmieri.
Those reports were followed up by a string of others suggesting that the Blues had made an official bid for the 23-year old defender. These were followed by the player’s agent claiming Chelsea have made contact and talks are ongoing.
Well according to latest reports the deal is very close to being concluded.
Chelsea has reportedly agreed a £22 million deal for the player as they seek to solve their lack of personnel to fill up the left wing back role when Alonso needs a rest.
While there are still some minor parts of the deal to be sorted out with the player’s representatives who are in London, those in Stamford Bridge are very confident of the move happening.
The Brazil-born player who has pledged his allegiance to Italy just return from a long lay off due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury and has made just 2 appearances for the Italian side.
This move for Emerson could put an end to Chelsea’s long standing pursuit of fellow Brazilian Alex Sandro of Juventus.
The Blues are also in the market for a Center forward as they hope to provide adequate backup for Alvaro Morata with Roma’s Edin Dzeko the latest to be linked.
