Manchester United are getting ready to make a summer move for Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti.
The France international has been a target for the Premier League giants for months now with United boss Jose Mourinho reportedly confident that a summer move for the centre-back will go through.
Umtiti, 24, joined Barcelona from Lyon in 2016 and has grown to become a very important part of the team, forming a good understanding with Gerard Pique at the back.
He, however, has a €60 million release clause (which should be noted is not very high for a player of his quality) and this has seen a few clubs circle around the player as they look to take advantage.
Barcelona on their part have proposed contract extension talks as they look to keep their French star away from interested clubs.
Man United are said to be headlining the list of interested clubs and have been in contact with the player and his representatives to the dismay of the Catalan club and reports say the Premier League giants are increasingly confident, the player will favour a move to Old Trafford and are preparing a summer bid for the Lyon youth product.
Umtiti has a contract until the summer of 2021 with Barcelona but has so far turned down or postponed contract talks with the club with reports suggesting he is interested in a better pay package than he currently receives, something Man United are more than willing to provide.
