Serie A giants AC Milan are reportedly interested in out-of-favour Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera and they are willing to make an offer within the range of £32m so as to secure the signature of the 28-year-old in the summer.
Herrera has turned to one of Mourinho’s fringe players despite his exploits in the Portuguese’ debut campaign as United boss in the 2016-17 season. He has started only eight times from possible 26 in the Premier League so far this season.
Unlike this season, Ander Herrera was one of Mourinho’s consistent performers when the team won the EFL Cup and the Europa League last season as he made 31 league appearances of which he started in 27 times for the Red Devils.
Having signed Nemanja Matic from Chelsea in last year’s summer transfer window, Mourinho changed his tactics so as to accommodate the former Chelsea player in his starting lineup thereby starting Herrera from the substitute bench.
AC Milan who haven’t been doing great in recent seasons are hoping to add some more qualities to their squad in order to return back to their glory days. They are set to release £32m for the former Southampton man in the summer but it’s yet to be seen if United will sanction his move to the San Siro stadium for such relatively small amount.
The 28-year-old could move to the Serie A side as getting game-time seems to be more difficult after the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal last month.
