Thomas Vermaelen Predicts Great Future for Luis Enrique Ahead of Chelsea Move

If report emanating from the news is anything to go by then Luis Enrique will surely become Chelsea manager in the summer.

According to Spanish media outlet Don Balon, the former Barcelona manager is set to be heading to Stamford Bridge and former Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen has predicted a bright future for the former Spain international footballer.

Vermaelen who was sparingly used by Luis Enrique during his time at the Camp Nou stadium believes the coach has the ability to turn around Chelsea’s fortune next season.

He further told reporters that Luis is capable of doing what Pep Guardiola is currently doing with Manchester City if given the time and support.

According to the defender, Enrique is a coach who understands his players and he also ensure a good relationship with his players and backroom staffs.

Having spent five years at Arsenal, the Belgian defender also backed Arsene Wenger to retain his job ahead of next season despite calls for his sack from the Gunners faithfuls.

He believes Arsenal’s problem is beyond sacking the Frenchman who has been with the North London club for two decades. He believes with time, Arsenal will start winning trophies under Arsene Wenger’s watch.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are through to the next round of the FA Cup competition after defeating Championship side Hull City by scoring four un-replied goals.
