Manchester United manager José Mourinho is being linked with a move for Chelsea star winger Willian and Tottenham’s defender Toby Alderweireld in since last month but nothing has been made official yet.
The Portuguese tactician is once again set to reignite interest in both players in the summer.
While reacting to Mourinho’s desire to work with both players in the coming season, Former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley believes both players would be great additions to Mourinho’s squad should they eventually join the Red Devils.
According to the Scottish player, who is now a pundit, Willian is a very speedy winger whose tricks, and pace would wreck havoc to opponents defense. He further laments the Brazilian failure to get regular action for the Blues in the early part of the season until latter stage.
“Willian’s pace. He spent a long part of the season coming off the bench and then he got game time and looked great as you’d expect, so direct,” he admitted.
He also comments on Toby Alderweireld’s lack of first-team actions, which could be traced to the unfortunate injury and his contract saga with the North London club.
“Alderweireld obviously has been excellent beside Vertonghen until the injuries and the contract talks thwarted that,” he said.
He finally advised Mourinho to sign both players, but it all depends on Chelsea’s decision over Willian’s future at the Stamford Bridge.
“Yeah sign those two, absolutely,” the Scot concluded.
As for Alderweireld, Tottenham are ready to partway with the strong full-back and they are hoping to make nothing below £30m from his sale in the summer.
