Former Premier League Champions Manchester United have finally reached an agreement with Tottenham for their longtime target Toby Alderweireld, that’s according to the latest report emanating from North London.
The Belgian international is being targeted by the Red Devils since the start of the current transfer market but they didn’t find a breakthrough in the bids for his signature.
The centre-back is known for his ability to make strong tackles but he failed to impress with Tottenham throughout last season, no thanks to his recurring injuries which ultimately prevented him from getting regular game-time under Mauricio Pochettino
With his contract set to end next summer, the 29-year-old was said to be leaving the Wembley stadium this summer but that’s not for a cheap price.
We reported here last month that Pochettino set a £75m asking price on his signature and that seems to be too much for a player who didn’t really impress during last season.
Despite his huge price tag, José Mourinho is keenly interested in his signature but not willing to pay such an outrageous amount for the no-nonsense defender.
The Mirror now report that the Red Devils have finally struck a deal with the North London club for the player. The report claimed that Tottenham have accepted £60m from the Old Trafford outfits.
Having reached an agreement with their League rival, United could unveil Toby Alderweireld as their latest signing on Tuesday.
