It was circulated across all transfer media that the Gunners were vying for Barcelona’s youngster Ousmane Dembele as part of Emery’s reinforcement.
Though the manager made an official approach towards capturing his signature, he failed to lure him to the Emirates Stadium before the window closes last night.
However, Catalan radio station RAC1 revealed that the Gunners’ €10m-loan offer was rejected by Barcelona, who believe the bid was a bit lower to the player’s ability and quality.
The media outlet also claimed that the Gunners included a €90m buyout clause in their bid for the player but Barcelona immediately turned down the offer as they believe Dembele is not ready to part way with them.
The youngster joined the Blaugrana for £96m from Monaco last season but he didn’t get much game-time, fuelling report that he could be heading to the Emirates Stadium ahead of the coming season.
The young world cup winner must be on top of his game in every match if he must get quality playing time under Ernesto Valverde in the coming season.
Despite his failure to lure the Frenchman to the Emirates Stadium, the former Paris St-German manager was able to complete five signings during the just concluded transfer market.
