Tennis world No1 Rafa Nadal has reached the semi-final round at the ongoing Master 1000 tour in Toronto after a hard-fought victory over Croatian player Marin Cilic last night.

The Spaniard emerged Champion after three set which he played 2-6 ,6-4, 6-4 during the close encounter.

In his post-match reaction after the game, the 17 grand Slam winner revealed that Cilic was a tough man to play against but he was lucky to have  progressed to the next round at his expense.

It should be recalled that Cilic defeated Nadal during this year’s Australia Open but he wasn’t able to repeat such feat in yesterday’s match as he couldn’t match Nadal’s strength and techniques.

When asked if the win against Cilic was a revenge, the world No1 said that he didn’t believe in revenge and he played the game with one thing at the back of his mind – and that’s Victory.

“No, no. I never believe on revenges at all. No, no. It’s not because of Australian Open match, not at all, “said Nadal

Despite his victory over Cilic, Nadal praised the Croatian international for his mature and world-class display throughout the game.

According to him, Cilic played more aggressively and that helped him played every shot perfectly. He hit every shot at the right spot and they all landed in his own half of the court.

“He’s playing aggressively. He’s very difficult to stop and very difficult to play against him when he’s playing that way —— He was just hitting every ball fantastic, hitting all the right spot in every shot” he praised his opponent.

Nadal further thanked his fans who were present at the venue to sheer him to victory and he promised to make them proud in the next round of the competition.

“Amazing support for me tonight. Can say thank you very much to all the people here in Toronto.” Nadal shows his appreciation.

With his victory over Cilic, the Spaniard will be playing in the Master 1000’s semifinal round for the first time since 2010.
