Arsenal upgraded their back line during the summer transfer market as Unai Emery captured three defence-minded players and a goalkeeper before the close of the window.
The former PSG manager does not contend with Petr Cech’s display last season, he, therefore, signed new goalkeeper Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen so as to avoid conceding cheap goals due to goalie’s errors.
Arsenal also signed Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Guendouzi and Lichtsteiner as part of his desire to have a solid defensive unit in the coming season.
Despite all of these signings, football pundit Ian Wright believes the Gunners are still not strong enough at the back to compete for the Premier League trophy.
According to the Sky Sports pundit, Arsenal are good at the final third of the pitch but their defense is still one of their weak point heading into the new season.
Wright further speaks on the club’s chance of finishing as one of the top four clubs by the end of the season, He has a strong belief that the Gunners are going to end the 2018-19 season in the fourth position base on Emery’s tactical approach and former achievements.
Ahead of the match against Manchester City, Ian Wright said the Gunners will play a very high pressing game against the former Premier League Champions and they would hope to catch them unaware with counter attacks.
The North London would be hoping to have good outing against the Citizens on Sunday as they want to begin life under Unai Emery on a good note.
