Arsenal youngster Kelechi Nwakali, who is currently on loan at Porto youth team, has received his maiden call-up to Nigeria national team.

The player was lively for the Super Eagles team B in a friendly match against Atletico Madrid in June where he scored a screamer to give the African side a short-lived lead.

Nwakali captained Nigeria’s cadet team to the U-17 world cup trophy in 2015 but hasn’t been given the chance to represent the senior team.

The 19-year-old star was signed up by the Gunners in 2016 following his exploits at the Cadet championship but he is yet to have his debut appearance for the North London club due to work permit issues.

However, Former Arsenal defender Semi Ajayi was also handed his first call-up to the team by the Nigeria national team coach Genort Rohr.

Ajayi, 24, captained the Gunners U-23 side before he moved to Rotherham United two seasons ago. He will be hoping to grab his opportunity with the African side so as to get an invitation in subsequent matches.

Another Arsenal player Alex Iwobi, who scored against the Blues last weekend, was included in the list of players called up by Genort Rohr for the game against Seychelles next month.

The Super Eagles were defeated 2-0 by South Africa in the first match of the AFCON2019 qualifying series, therefore they must defeat the Islanders by large goal-margin.
