You Need To Do More To Merit A Place In My Team; Unai Emery Tells Star Player

Mesut Ozil joined the Emirates Stadium outfits from Real Madrid in 2013 and has proven his qualities with the club since joining them.

Believe it or not, it is presently a hard time for the German international, who recently called it quit with the Germany national team due to racial abuse.

The playmaker faced huge criticisms from fans, teammates and pundits for his decision to end his international career despite being in his prime.

Apart from his unexpected retirement, the 27-year-old isn’t fans favourite at the moment due to his less inspiring performances for the Gunners since the start of the season.

However, there is one man tipping the player to remain undisputed in Emery’s starting XI throughout this season.

Former Arsenal player David Seaman believes Unai Emery’s men solely relied on the player’s creativity at the middle of the pitch to score goals.

Though seaman admits Ozil hasn’t been fairing well with the Gunners, he advised the former PSG boss to believe in the player’s ability and attacking flair as the season progresses.

Having failed to feature against West Ham in the third fixture of the season, Ozil was named in the starting lineup against Cardiff City which ended 3-2 in their favour.

As the Gunners prepare for a trip to St James Park to face Newcastle on Saturday, Unai Emery is set to name the player in his starting lineup for the fourth time this campaign.

“He’s a quality player, there’s no doubt about that. Sometimes people think he doesn’t care, but that’s just his style. He does care – a lot. he’s still got great qualities so, for me, he stays in the Arsenal team no problem.” Seaman told Standard Sports.
