It was a convincing win from a team who looked like they would struggle in the English Premier League this season. West Ham was really superb at Goodison Park as they got a convincing victory to celebrate manager Manuel Pellegrini’s birthday.
West Ham got the first goal through Andriy Yarmolenko and immediately got a brace from Jordan Pickford’s silly blunder.
Everton reduced the lead in the last minute of added time of the first half through Gylfi Sigurdsson but the converted striker Marko Arnautovic extended the lead in the second half
Even though the fans have something to cheer for in the 3:1 victory, they would still have a crestfallen face to hear that their superstar Marko Arnautovic sustained an injury and could miss the clash against Chelsea.
After the match, Pellegrini confirmed that Arnautovic sustained a foot injury which saw him walked slowly away off the field as he was replaced for Michail Antonio.
The Austrian international scored in the 1nil win against Chelsea last season and was also the pivot man in the return leg. Which means he could miss the next encounter on Sunday.
However, West Ham fans will need to be in wait for the full report of his condition as he will definitely be accessed by the physios before the match.
Chelsea will clash with PAOK before travelling for the London derby on Sunday.
