Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho will reportedly be sacked after the Premier League game against Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Saturday night.
According to a report from the Daily Mirror, the Manchester United board has lost confidence in the former Real Madrid and Chelsea boss’ ability to take the club forward.
The report further disclosed that Mourinho will be sacked irrespective of the outcome of the game between his team and Newcastle United.
The Portuguese tactician has been under intense pressure after the Red Devils’ poor start to the new season.
He led Manchester United to a third defeat in seven games in the away clash at West Ham United.
His team were beaten 3-1 by the Hammers who secured their first home victory of the season with the result at the expense of the former Premier League winners.
Felipe Anderson, Victor Lindelof (own goal) and Marko Arnautovic while substitute Marcus Rashford got the consolation goal for the visitors.
The defeat left Manchester United in 10th position with just 10 points meaning that the Red Devils are eight points adrift of league leaders and city rivals Manchester City.
His woes were further compounded by the goalless draw at home to Spanish side Valencia in the Champions League in midweek.
The result took Manchester United’s winless run to four games in all competitions as well as four games at home without a win since the opening day of the season victory over Leicester City (2-1).
Mourinho’s situation at the club has not been helped by the bust-up with key players like Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez.
